Client FAQ'S

What do you consider your style of photography to be?

My style is Lifestyle photography with a journalistic approach. Similar to documentary photography- as in my client's are not traditionally posed or placed for every single shot. However, it’s apparent in the photos that I am giving some guidance along the way for my candid shots. I shoot on location, anywhere you choose, or in your home, using only natural light. My type of editing for the final images has a editorial, film look and feel to them. *Please take a peek through my portfolio before you book to make sure my editing style fits exactly what you are looking for in your final images.

Do you do weddings?

I do! (pun intended) Check out the WEDDING tab on my website for details and pricing!

What is included in the session price?

Every session includes your reserved date, my time & talent, and an online photo gallery. (View Sample Gallery HERE). It does not include prints-- which can be ordered via your online gallery, or you can download the images and print wherever you would like. *If you do print the images yourself, please, please, PLEASE--DO NOT go to your local Target, Walgreens etc. They will NOT match the colors correctly and you will be disappointed with your images. My fave online place to print is MPIX (mpix.com). You will LOVE their products.

I've booked, now what?

After booking: Keep an eye out for a link to my Welcome Guide. It contains lots of tips and juicy info in preparing for your session. You will also receive a pre-session phone consultation where we will discuss the details of your session. If you are not sure of a location, don't worry, I have plenty of suggestions!

During your session: Once we arrive at your selected location, (or I arrive at your home for an In-Home Session) leave the rest up to me. I like to pose and direct my clients, but I really love to capture the little candid moments in between that make a person or relationship unique. The session will be relaxed and fun for all involved!

After your session: I will go through all of your photos and I will pick out the very best ones and edit them. I will deliver your images via a link to your very own online gallery where you can order prints, share to social media, or download the images to print wherever you would like. *If you just aren't hip to the online gallery, and prefer your images delivered via USB instead, I can accommodate.

Can we pick which photos from our session that we want you to edit?

Unfortunately, that type of sit down meeting afterwards is not part of the session price. During your session, I will take considerable more shots than I need so I have plenty to choose the very best from. Please trust me, having 10+ years in this photography industry, I have developed a pretty good eye for picking the best shots for editing! Not to mention, photos straight out of the camera (SOOC) look flat, dark, and blah--much different then after they are edited-- and this may leave the client wondering if that is what their final images will look like.

Will you re-edit, re-shoot, or refund our money if we don't like our final images?

No. Only minor revisions, such as small skin imperfections, or touch-ups will additionally be made ONCE- only upon request from client after final images are delivered. My website and portfolio lay out the editing expectations a client has prior to booking. *Please make sure my editing style fits what you are looking for in your final images. Due to the digital nature of the product, no refunds are given for any reason. No re-shoots are offered for any reason.

What should I wear?

Next to choosing the perfect location, 'what to wear' is one of the most asked questions from my clients. Make sure you plan ahead on choosing outfits. The last thing you want to do is to be rushing around the night before your session finding that perfect outfit. Color coordinate, but do not have everyone match exactly (as in everyone in jeans and a white T-shirt--this is too matchy-matchy and just doesn't make for good photos. Complimentary colors, or colors in the same family mixed with one or two patterns are great! Check out my blog for more info: chelseaflowersphotography.com/blog

What if the weather is bad and we need to reschedule?

There is no charge to reschedule for bad weather. We will simply rain-check for another day and time. If you need to reschedule for reasons other than weather, I require at least a 24 hours notice.

When do I need to pay for my session?

All session fees are due in full at the time of your session. I take cash, check or card. However, if you choose to pay with a card, there is an extra $10.00 charge for processing fees.

Are you willing to travel outside of the Cincinnati area?

Absolutely! If you live more than 30 miles outside of the Cincinnati area, there may be a small traveling fee. Don't worry- it's not much, just enough to cover my time and gas :) Contact me and we can discuss your needs.

When is the best time for a Maternity Session?

28 to 32 weeks is perfect for most moms to be. This is a time frame where your beautiful belly is a nice size, yet you’re not as uncomfortable as you may be in your last few. Though I have shot maternity sessions up close to delivery with beautiful results, feedback from expecting moms has encouraged me to advise clients towards the earlier side where mommy-to-be is feeling the best and is most comfortable than you may be later in the pregnancy.

Should I bring anything?

You may bring anything you like! Outfit changes, props, toys, blankets, picnic baskets, books, food, your pets, whatever you can imagine being a part of a memory you want to freeze in time. Anything you want to do in the allotted time frame is OK with me!

How often should I have my baby’s portraits taken?

I recommend doing a newborn shoot within 14 days of birth, and then again at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months--if you are wanting to document baby's first year. They grow so fast within that first year, and the changes will amaze you when you look back at the photos! If you wanted to document less frequently, I would have them taken every 6 months (or twice a year).

If you plan on scheduling a newborn session, make sure to do it in advance while you are still pregnant – obviously we will not settle on an exact date, but I will keep time available around your estimated due date. Newborn portraits will only be done within the first 14 days of birth.

How should we prepare for our Newborn Session?

All Newborn Sessions are done in your home. Make sure to open all of the blinds and shades in the rooms we will be using. This will enable me to utilize as much light as possible, as I am a natural light photographer, and I will not be using a flash or other light equipment. Clear nightstands of clutter or distracting elements. They don’t have to be bare and they certainly don’t have to be perfectly dusted, but clearing end tables or nightstands of clutter will help keep the focus on you and your sweet family . And most of all--don’t stress!!  You just had a baby (or you’re about to) and your LAST focus should be the state of your home. I will help you with some quick organizations if need be!

Help! I'm not photogenic at all!!

Believe it or not, pretty much EVERYONE tells me this before their session, and it never turns out to be true! I love coaching my clients through having their photos taken, and I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve to make you look fabulous! When you’re having a great time, you’ll look more beautiful than you thought was possible. I promise!

What can I do to help the session go smoothly?

The BEST thing you can do is to let go and enjoy! I know it’s hard not to be stressed before your session, but please don't. We’ll have the best chance at getting gorgeous images if we let them happen naturally (with a little guidance from me, of course!) I want your pictures to be amazing and will do all the hard work for you! Your only job is to relax and have fun.

Can I keep the images from my session private?

All clients sign an contract release before the session. If you would prefer to keep your images private, you may indicate your request at that time. For clients who choose to not go social with their images, I absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images under lock and key!

Do you use a flash?

Nope, I only use natural light! This allows me to work quickly and flexibly.

I am a photographer, can I come shoot with you?

Sure! Only if you bring your A game! (Ha ha- kidding. HECK YES- I would LOVE the company!)

How long have you been a photographer?

I've been perfecting my craft since 2009

What if I'm running late to our session?

If you are late we will do our best in the time that is remaining to get everything we need, but I don’t offer extended session time. So please make sure you allow plenty of time to get to your session. Even if you arrive early, you can scout the location for that perfect setting while you wait.

If I haven't covered something that you still have questions about, shoot me a message!
