When is the best time in my pregnancy to schedule my maternity session?
28 to 34 weeks is perfect for most moms to be. This is a time frame where your beautiful belly is a nice size, yet you’re not as uncomfortable as you may be in your last few weeks. Though I have shot maternity sessions up close to delivery with beautiful results, feedback from expecting moms has encouraged me to advise clients towards the earlier side where mommy-to-be is feeling the best and is most comfortable than you may be later in the pregnancy.
How soon should I schedule my session?
It’s never too early to schedule your maternity session to ensure you get the date and time you want to reserve.
Should I be concerned about stretch marks and the extra weight I’ve gained?
Not one bit! I have had four children of my own, so I understand that you may be concerned about how your body looks, and how you feel. Removing any blemishes, including any noticeable stretch marks and slimming you down a little in areas where needed through flattering poses, camera angle and expert retouching skills are all complimentary as part of your session. Just let me know what your concern is and I’ll take care of it for you, however, I do recommend capturing your beauty in the moment. You will look back in a few years and be happy that you did.
What should I wear for my maternity session?
I suggest that you wear something that you are comfortable in. The majority of my clients lean toward wearing long dresses, or gowns. Long fitted dresses and gowns can lengthen and slenderize your overall appearance, yet display your ample belly (and they usually photograph beautifully!)
Form fitted tops are great too. A snug fitting tank top with a low riding yoga skirt can be a great look to show off your beautiful bump. Flowing skirts or even jeans with a bandeau is a lovely way to bear your bump. Don’t forget about favorite accessories to showcase your personal style, perhaps a hat, boots, jewelry, scarves, etc.
